I use a number of approaches in my work, however I draw primarily from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT); a Mindfulness and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy blend. This is a comprehensive, evidence based model used to teach people how to improve their emotional intelligence, learn how to problem solve and cope more effectively. It is delivered in 4 modules:
Mindfulness Skills – Take control of your mind to reduce pain and increase happiness
Effective stress/distress management – Manage overwhelming emotions when you are going through a very difficult situation
Emotion regulation – Identify and change emotions, when you have them, and how you experience and express them
Assertiveness/Interpersonal effectiveness – Get and keep healthy relationships and increase self-respect
